Significado das flores, Violeta, Papoula, Anêmona, Margarida e Cravo

As diferentes formas, cores e cheiros das flores originaram muitas associações e mitos. Inocência, doçura, serenidade e cura são representações comuns das flores.

A Violeta tem um certo destaque na mitologia grega e durante as épocas medievais significavam a fidelidade no amor, casta e humilde. Entretanto, na antiga Roma a violeta era usada em funeráis, e ainda hoje, sua cor púrpura significa lamentos.

A Papoula e a Anêmona estão relacionadas ao sono e a morte. Durante duas guerras eram símbolos dos soldados caídos nos campos de batalha. No mito de Afrodite, a Anêmona foi gerada a partir das lágrimas de lamentação de Afrodite pela morte de Adônis. Na idade média a Anêmona simbolizava também a proteção contra mal. Acredita-se que as fadas repousam entre as pétalas da Anêmona. Já a Papoula simboliza o sono.

A Margarida exala uma natural simplicidade. A flor é o símbolo da inocência e tem também conotação de amor perpetuo. Entretanto, acredita-se que a flor pode trazer azar se for trazida à casa.

Símbolo da fertilidade e do amor, o Cravo-Branco é sempre presente nos casamentos. O Cravo-Vermelho representa um coração ferido e o Cravo-Amarelo é empregado nos momentos de rejeições.

iPod Sporting Camera? What A Great Idea!

Not enough with the rumor that iPhone Nano gonna hit the shores next month, there's another rumor circulating around the Apple geeks. New iPods gonna have built-in camera! Wowsa.. what a news.

Rumor has it that the new iPod Touch (3rd Gen) and Nano (5th Gen) gonna have a camera like the one installed in iPhone before. While the new iPhone (which is gonna be launched soon) gonna be upped to 3.2 MP and slightly thinner, the iPods will come with a flashless camera. How's Apple gonna positioned the camera on the already little and thin machines, let just hope it's gonna be flawless. But by looking at the leaked pix from iLounge, the camera is somewhat placed in an awkward location. Errkkk...

And talking about Nano 5G, the screen is having a revamp too by getting bigger with 1.5:1 aspect ratio. While the Click Wheel is retained (meaning no touchscreen), the size gonna be a wee smaller.

When do we expect to see those camera on iPods? Just wait between July to September. I'm definitely going to their flagship store @ Regent St to catch a glimspe!

P/S: They said you should have an Apple a day. I said let's have an Apple a Generation (if u know what I mean). Mmm... iPod Touch with camera.. delish!

As borboletas relacionam-se a alma e anunciam momentos felizes. Já as mariposas podem significar momentos de tristeza, entretanto as duas relacionam-se à alma.

Para os gregos e egípcios, a alma que deixa o corpo, tem o formato de uma borboleta. Borboleta e espírito significam em Grego psique, que tem como sua representanção uma criança com asas de borboleta.

Os astecas consideravam as borboletas como o "sopro vital" espelido pela boca do falecido, também liga-se a divindade Itzpapalotl, resultado do cruzamento entre uma borboleta e uma mulher. Tal simbologia é relacionada à metamorfose da borboleta e representa a saída do túmulo, ou casulo, para o renascer.

Muitos orientais também crêem na ligação do ciclo vital das borboletas com a passagem do mundo dos mortos para o mundo dos vivos. Em terras japonesas as borboletas são consideradas espíritos “viajantes“ que anunciam visitas de parentes ou mortes. Entretanto, se encontrar duas borboletas juntas, fique feliz, pois representa felicidade no casamento.

Os vietnamitas acreditam que as borboletas são a expressão da vida longa.

O Dragão na cultura oriental

O Dragão é presente em diversos sutras, livros sagrados da religião Budista. O animal mítico aparece no nome de um mestre indiano, Nagarjuna. Nos sânscrito Naga significa Dragão. Esta cultura foi absorvida pela China, onde Naga representa uma pessoa dotada de energia e muitas qualidades.

O Dragão, ou Naga guarda o Dharma, ou Darma, a base das práticas, filosofias e crenças indianas. Nas manhãs são cantados Sutras, registros dos ensinamentos orais de Buda Gautama, em oferenda à oito Reis-Dragões. Na cultura indiana o Dragão também representa a transformação. O Portal do Dragão é um bom exemplo, pois simboliza a entrada de um Monge Budista para um mosteiro.

No oceano ou grandes rios estão escondidos os Dragões-Azuis e os Dragões-Pretos. A missão destes Dragões é guardar preciosas pérolas ainda não manifestadas, guardadas fielmente entre as suas mandíbulas.

Já o Dragão-Voador encontrou o exato momento da iluminação e após muito praticar foi-lhe permitido aparecer para a humanidade. Este Dragão simboliza a realização.

Os Dragões muitas vezes são representados com chamas e nuvens que os guiam até os céus. As nuvens representam as dificuldades, conflitos e problemas que surgem durante a vida, mas que gera grande força necessárias à um legítimo Monge Budista. O nome Dragão-do-Céu é atribuído à muitos templos.

Fashion For Charity: H&M Did Fashion Against AIDS Again

H&M is indeed the highstreet king of collabo! Last month with Matthew Williamson, this month with some other big stars. All in the name of Fashion Against AIDS. This is the second time they did the awareness campaign. Last year they did it with Rihanna and Timbaland (among others). This time around the collection is getting bigger and much more massive. Talking about star power, eh?

So what's hot? The tees are designed by the likes of fashion designer (Katherine Hamnett), singers (Katy Perry, NERD, Moby, Tokio Hotel, Roisin Murphy, Estelle), and other celebs like Yoko Ono and Dita Von Tesse (stripper? mmm....). The tees are supposed to create awareness about AIDS. Buy this tee and quarter of the price will go to the youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects wroldwide. The tee design has a slight retro feel to it with lots of white, bright colors and grafitti-like prints. Some has very bold slogans scareaming the message loud and clear (as if people has eyesight problem!)

Well, as usual I've gone to check 'em, try them and get my verdict on coz the pix in their H&M website always deceiving. To me good T-shirt is always about the sleeves. Too Buzzlightyear means a no, no. Too tight, then I can't get my arms in. And any tee should be worn slightly fit, not too damn loose. Or I'll just wear a raincoat then.

So my verdict? The Moby alien-like man design is cool but too young. The 'eyes' is kinda glow-in-the-dark too. Errkk...not good. And the fabric's too thin. Katherine Hamnett's is OK coz the sleeve and overall fit quite good (eventhough the fabric is kinda washed out). Yoko Ono's is a no, no to me. Tokio Hotel's is the best. Skull print is very in trend. And I love the slogan "ROCKHARD F**KSAFE". Very rock-n-rolla, LOL!

And oh, the tees are made of organic cotton. So, eco and charity..what a great combo!

1º Balneario Camboriu Needles Fest

A Balneario Camboriú Needles Fest será a 1ª Convenção Internacional de Tattoo e Piercing de Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina. O evento foi idealizado por: Piercer Snoopy do estúdio Polaco Tattoo, André Tenório do estúdo Fine Arts e Dirceu do estúdio Dermografite. A idéia é fazer um evento onde não serão julgados os trabalhos dos tatuadores. Esta é uma mobilização mundial para o resgate da Cultura da Tatuagem e da Body Art em geral.

A convenção se realizará no Sibara Flat, um hotel conjugado a um ótimo centro de convenções, facilitando assim, o acesso dos expositores à Balneario Camboriú Needles. Será realizada também uma inesquecível festa para os expositores em uma embarcação pirata típica.

It's My 300th!

I finally reached my tercenternary. It's my 300th blog entry!! Yeay! Kudos to me. Not bad for a casual bloggers who his primary job is not in the computer nor IT nor fashion, but in engineering! LOL! But that's what life supposed to be. Diversifying thing. Becoming well rounded. Not just to stuck in one world.

And I really love my blog coz it really shows what i really like. And most of the things that I wrote, I owned them (or I wish to own them one day!). And the best of all, I get to experience some of them in my own two hands, get the nitty gritty out of it. Some are good stuff which I praised them a lot, some are just plain bad that I butchered them to death (literally speaking!)

I'll keep on style-blogging coz that's what I love. Btw, who on earth didn't like shopping and looking good? Right?!

And oh, btw.. the '300' pix up there I got it somewhere in the 'law college' website. LOL!!

My Shoe Galore: Burton Perforated Leather Plimsols

It the trend that make me down to my knees. The trend that is also seen in the previous issue of SHORTLIST. (Damn, they must be good in promoting them). When I visited Burton last week during the Oxford Street VIP Day, I finally get my hands on the leather plimsols that they talked about.

Alas, when Burton did 'Free Shipping' during the Bank Holiday Weekend (plus another 10% off for student discount), I don't wait long to snatch it right away. And voila, when I returned home yesterday.. the parcel was right there waiting for me! Yeay!

So, what's hot about the shoes? It's perforated - meaning giving my foot to breath during the hot summer days. It a combo of leather uppers and fabric lining (which is great). The design is so simple: no perk, no embelishments, just very understated. Yet it looks chic and could be a neo-classic! And the color is just fab: off white. Meaning it won't gleam too much in the sunny weather.

What a great purchase. That's 3 new shoes in a week! Holla...

Koreans are health freaks. I haven't seen one fat person since I got here and my body is considered average. i.e., I'm not considered skinny although I'm considered tall and voluptuous, which i find really funny hehe

From the food they eat (I haven't eaten anything gross yet, Thank God) to the work outs they do people really take care of their health. (some take care of their health a little too much)

This area is located right behind my grandma's house and the whole asphalt floor or whatever has some kind of cushion underneath it so that people could run, walk and work out without getting a sprained ankle.

I wish the States had something like this. I'd be running around everyday then.
