My mate, Rik, from Italy emailed me in previous weeks saying 'how come you never talk about Benetton in your blog'? Well, to answer to that question - it's simply because I'm not really tempted with what they got to offer. Not the price, especially. Yet I have to say, I do like some of the pieces hanging on the rails - but again... the price tag really gives me off not to get them. Too damn pricey for a typical British highstreet standards.
But when I recently visited its flagship store at Oxford Circus again (just at the corner of the Tube entrance) - they got a Sale. Scribbled outside the store 'Up to 50% off - Menswear Refurbishment Sale'. Aha! I think this is the time to get something 'interesting' from Benetton.
So, there I am... as usual... browsing around, seeing what's hot and what's not. Suddenly my eyes are fixated to a little 'knot' inside a box. I took it up, and waved it open... and voila. It's a scarf! A nice square-shaped scarf from Benetton. It's not a tie die, it's not a dip dye. Not even splish splash paint either. But it looks like a piece of art. Like somehow a painter took his brush and create a nice piece of artwork. And it's a monochrome with a tint of blue in it.
And I love it. It's on sale too. So... off to the cashier, and in to my shopping bag. I like that it's a lightweight cotton - so summer-friendly! =)
So, to Rik... there you go. It's a Benetton! And shall I scream Italia Uno now? (only some people understand what it means, ahaks!)
