Priyanka Chopra Biography

Priyanka Chopra Biography:

Kangna Ranawat - Priyanka Chopra - Mughda Godse

Chopra was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri, both physicians by profession. Chopra spent her childhood in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh; Newton, Massachusetts; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her father was in the army and thus her family moved quite frequently. Her father hailed from a family of Punjabi origin, settled in Bareilly and her mother comes from a family settled in Jamshedpur. She also has a brother, Siddharth, who is seven years younger than she is. Chopra studied at La Martiniere Girls' School in Lucknow as a young girl. These frequent re-locations took place as her father was a physician in the Indian Army. She subsequently re-located to the U.S. where she studied in Newton South High School in Newton, Massachusetts and then in John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She returned to India and did her high school at Army School in Bareilly. She began college at Jai Hind College in Mumbai but left after winning the Miss World pageant. Chopra came in second place at Femina Miss India 2000 competition winning the Femina Miss India World title and subsequently being sent to Miss World where she was crowned Miss World 2000. In the same year, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza, both also from India, won the Miss Universe and Miss Asia Pacific crowns respectively, in a rare triple victory for one country. When Chopra won the Miss World crown, she became the fifth Indian woman to win the title, and the fourth Indian woman to win in a span of seven years. On December 12, 2009, Chopra was present as a judge for the Miss World 2009 competition held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Film career
Chopra made her debut in the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan playing the role of Priya, the love interest of the protaginist in the film played by Vijay. The film was praised for its wit, although the depth of Chopra's character was seen as lacking. In 2003, she appeared in her first Bollywood film, opposite Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in the Anil Sharma film The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. She played a supporting role as a doctor named Shaheen in a film The New York Times described as "ripping its text from the seething border tensions between India and Pakistan, spicing its conflict with hot-tempered religious zealots bent on nuclear havoc". Despite being one of the highest grossing films of that year, the overall film was not well received by critics, Chopra was awarded mostly good reviews for her debut Hindi performance. Later that year she appeared in Raj Kanwar's Andaaz, playing the character of Jiya who falls in love with Raj Malhotra, played by Akshay Kumar. The film was a considerable box office success, earning her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and a nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. Rediff.com said of her role, "Priyanka clicks with the audience thanks to her skimpy outfits". Her next few films released in 2004 like Plan, Kismat and Asambhav performed poorly at the box office. Later that year she appeared in David Dhawan's romantic comedy Mujhse Shaadi Karogi playing the role of a young fashion designer Rani along with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, the film turned out to be the third highest grossing film of that year. She next starred in Aitraaz. It was her first negative role. Her performance won critical acclaim and earned a Filmfare Best Villain Award. She also received a second nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for the role. In the same year, she participated in a world tour titled Temptations 2004 with other Bollywood actors, including Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal.

In 2005, she starred in Blackmail, Karam, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Yakeen, Barsaat and Bluffmaster, none of which performed well at the box office. In 2006, Chopra starred in two of the most successful films of the year - Krrish and Don - The Chase Begins Again. Then in 2007 she starred in Nikhil Advani's ensemble piece, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love. The movie failed to do well at the box office. Chopra's next release, Big Brother also underperformed. In 2008, Chopra featured in six films. Her first four films, Love Story 2050, God Tussi Great Ho, Chamku and Drona, failed to do well. Chopra's fifth release of the year, Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion was a critical success. The film revolved around the fashion world and Chopra's role was that of an ambitious model. Her performance in the film was appreciated and earned her several awards for Best Actress including the Filmfare Best Actress Award. Music India Online said of her performance, "Her transformation from the bubbly Chandigarh girl to the super-ambitious supermodel, who dumps her boyfriend and conscience to pursue her dreams, is achieved with a gentle subtlety and bridled passion. This is Priyanka’s coming-of-age film. She looks like a zillion bucks. And acts like a woman who connects with the darkest, most desperate human emotions without wallowing in them." Chopra's final release of the year was Tarun Mansukhani's romantic comedy Dostana. The film was a moderate financial success. In 2009 she appeared in Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminey alongside Shahid Kapoor playing a marathi girl named Sweety. Her performance in the film was described by critic Taran Adarsh: "Priyanka is first-rate. She's so much in sync with her character. Also, she gets the Maharashtrian accent perfect". She subsequently appeared in Ashutosh Gowariker's What's Your Raashee?, a film in which Chopra became the first actress in the world to portray 12 characters on screen. The film was a financial and critical failure. In early 2010, Chopra appeared in Jugal Hansraj's Pyaar Impossible where she portrayed the role of a college beauty who eventually falls in love with a geek. Chopra is currently working on Sajid Nadiadwala's Anjaana Anjaani and Vishal Bharadwaj's Saat Khoon Maaf in which she plays the role of a woman with seven husbands.

Anupama Verma

Anupama Verma Biography:

Cover girl, Super model, actress, 5 ft 8 " tall, Anupama Verma, who hails from Delhi, did her MBA in Finance and Marketing from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University. This Delhi girl with her enviously thin figure and stunning, yet, fragile looks was spotted by photographer Shantanu Sheorey, when she was in the ninth standard and got her first assignment for Digjam Suiting opposite Shekhar Kapur. Anupama Verma set many hearts aflutter with her very first ad commercial for Digjam Suitings opposite the suave Shekhar Kapoor.

She has been a cover girl for many leading Indian magazines, modeled for a cartload of products such as Fair and Lovely, Siyaram, Harry's collections, Pantene, Lipton, Monte Carlo and featured in many music videos like "Boom Boom" in which she looked absolutely gorgeous.

Then came a stint as a VJ on Channel [V], which saw her shift base from Delhi to Mumbai . She has appeared for the first time on small screen in the TV series ‘Aankhen’. Anupama Verma having done tons of modeling assignments moved further to the music videos.

Her first release Grahan opposite the inimitable Jackie Shroff and co-starring Manisha Koirala might not have hit the jackpot, but Anupama's film career sure is on a roll.

In 2006, Anupama Verma appeared on the Indian reality show, 'Big Boss', where she was emotionally involved with model Aryan Vaid, who professed his mad love for Anupama Verma. On the show Bigg Boss, Anupama had developed a relationship with model Aryan Vaid. Aryan was supposedly madly in love with Anupama and was very emotional when they parted when he got evicted from the show before Anupama.

She also appeared in Bali Brahambhatt's romantic melody with Bikram Saluja "Tere Bin Jeena Nahin" apart from the "Lara Lappa," the Bhangra pop video. One of the prettiest faces in the glamour business, Anupama Verma has always remained very true to herself. Even though her personal life has taken the front till now linking her with Bikram Saluja and tennis pro Mahesh Bhupati, she's finally realised that her film career is top priority today. It was rumored that she was the reason for the split between Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi.

Like any successful model Anupama Verma too ventured into films and acted in several movies like "Ittefaq" and "Grahan" (2001) , "Pitaah", "Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai" and "Vadh" (2002), "Footpath" (2003), Asambhav" (2004), "Mohabbat Ho Gayi Hai Tumse" and "Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav" (2005) and "With Luv... tumhaara" (2006).

Top Most Beautiful Female Supermodels of India

Name : Nayonika Chatterjee

Height : 5′ 11”

Hair Color: Black

Eye color: Black

Weight: 58kgs

Bust: 34″

Waist: 26″

Hips: 38″

Birthday: Oct. 19

Zodiac: Libra

Nayonika Chatterjee was responsible for making dusty look famous on Indian ramp.

Nayonika is the first choice of fashion designers to diaplay their clothes and any important fashion show will not take place without her.

Now she is a leading choreographer also. Every important beauty event has to be necessarily choreographed by her only.

Noyna, as she is affectionately called, has been around for well over a decade. Everybody, just about everybody… loves this 5 feet 11 inch unconventional beauty. This Bengali lass is a must on every single designer's ramp show. Rohit Bal, Rohit Khosla, Tarun Tahiliani, Shahab Durazi and Hemant Trevedi are just some of the names that she has worked with.

The ease with which Nayonika takes the ramp speaks of her experience. One look at her and it's undeniable. She has the élan to make any aspirant quiver. In her mighty shadow, they ask themselves if they can ever reach her stature. Wisely, the lady herself has stuck to what she does best and not ventured into the world of films. A sure place to get you off your pedestal and people's hearts.

Nayonika has never really ventured into doing even commercials. And one does wonder why. Maybe she has no interest in stills. But she has other interests that she nurtures. A little known fact about this talented girl is her love for pottery. Friends insist that she loves the feel of clay!

Nayonika had started a celebrity management company with Anupam Kher which didn't see too much success and now, seems to have fizzled out. Not that she cares too much. More recently, one hears that she has branched into choreography. If that be true, the fashion industry can only benefit from her experience.

On the personal front, she has had a really long-standing relationship with colleague and boyfriend, Gurmeet Singh ( who appears in Nina Gupta's Pal Chhin) though she shows no sign of marrying him. But when you are as happy and content with your career as she is, you wouldn't want to move on to the next level of joy (?) now would you? Queen of the ramp is a great title to possess.

Noyanika Chatterjee is all set for a productive stint in television and to bid adieu to her 12-year modelling career

She has joined B4U and is handling the fashion programming for the company. Which means she has to produce 15 minutes on desi fashion for Fashion TV. "I am still honouring the bookings I have taken before I joined B4U, but I am not taking up any new ramp jobs." She will be full-fledgedly into her new job.

And how does she feel the modelling industry has changed in the last 12 years?
"It has become much more professional. We used to rehearse for days before a show. Now we often start work on the day of the show." Nayanika also feels that people's attitude to the industry has changed drastically. "Earlier, modelling used to be looked down upon, but now every young girl wants to grow up and be a model."

One guy in 'Love Game' with seven girls!

Actor Randeep Hooda is certainly enjoying his role in director Srinivas’ forthcoming movie titled Love Game .

The film is a comedy with subtle erotic overtones. It tells the story of a man who flirts with as many as seven women and has some kind of issue with everyone.
Randeep Hooda plays the male lead opposite seven heroines. The girls are Riya Sen , model Jesse Randhawa , Divya Dutta , Rituparna Sengupta , Sada , Kalpana Pundit and Rakhi Sawant .

As can be expected, Randeep says he is really enjoying working with so many actresses in a movie.

Despite all the cops and gangster roles that Randeep has done in the past, the actor says his role in ‘Love Game’ is closest to his real self.

If anything, this role will definitely change Randeep’s onscreen image.

Are we ready for Bikini babes?

It sure is going to be an eye-popping event. The Miss Bikini India 2007 contest is slated to be held in Goa in December.

Girls from India have time and again excelled in international beauty pageants and have brought home the coveted tiaras: Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss Asia Pacific. You name it! Now, Bikini babes are set to arrive and make their mark at a pageant being organized by Niksan Info Media Pvt Ltd.
The event will be much like an Indian version of the Miss Bikini International.

But the big question is: Are we ready for such an event?

While on the one hand, a new Guinness record for largest swimwear photoshoot was recently created in Australia when 1,010 girls posed together in bikinis on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, on the other hand, Niksan Info Media in India is having tough time getting enough celebrities for Miss Bikini India 2007.

Sample this. As many as three Bollywood celebrities have turned down the offer to walk the ramp in a bikini for a special non-competitive segment of the event which is basically intended at celebrity endorsement to bring attention to the event. Malaika Arora , Jiah Khan and Esha Deol have refused to walk the catwalk in tiny two-piece outfits.

A representative of Niksan Info Media says the company did not anticipate such a show of inhibition from Bollywood beauties. Meanwhile, other celebrities have also been approached, but there is no final word from anyone yet.

Names that are being rumored around include those of celebrities like Bipasha Basu , Neha Dhupia and model Jesse Randhawa . But there is no official confirmation yet.

Sanjay Manocha from Niksan Info Media says Miss Bikini India is not a voyeuristic event but purely a trade event aimed at boosting the inner wear and undergarments industry.

When asked if India is ready for such an event, Manocha reasons that Indian lingerie and undergarments industry has boomed in last couple of years.

“We are not catering to any carnal interests of a group or individual. The event is basically for promoting the undergarment industry. We have to change with the times,” Manocha is quoted as saying.

The organizers are in talks with several corporate houses to sponsor Miss Bikini India contest. Some international celebrities are also likely to attend the event.

Jesse dresses up for a different role!

Having made her mark on International fashion circuit, model Jesse Randhawa will make her acting debut in a small budget film.

The film , titled Chot, will have Jesse playing a reporter cracking down on corrupt police officials who extort money from newcomers in Mumbai.

The movie, to be directed by newcomer Nabh Kumar Raju, will be made on a skimpy budget.

Interestingly, Jesse was supposed to make her debut in another Hindi film titled Gulal by Anurag Kashyap. However, the film has shelved for the time being and Jesse is focussed on Chot.

Even as Jesse is all set for her Bollywood debut, she doesn’t seem to be in the mood to say goodbye to ramp. At the same time she makes it clear that she won’t do any item numbers in the movies.

Jesse Randhawa dances for 'No Smoking'

Model Jesse Randhawa will be seen in a very unconventional item number in Anurag Kashyap’s film No Smoking .

Anurag sure does think out of the box. In the time when Mallikas and Celinas are the queens of item numbers, the maverick director has opted for a lanky model for a song in his movie ‘No Smoking’ that stars John Abraham in the lead role.
It is learnt that Anurag got the idea of casting Jesse Randhawa for the song when he saw her hosting the Salaam-e-Ishq fashion show recently. He had previously worked with her in his movie ‘Gulaal’, which never got released.

According to Anurag, the song Jesse does in ‘No Smoking’ is a very stylish one, but it has no nudity. In fact, Jesse will be seen dressed in a black suit throughout the song.

Anurag says: “Jesse suited the mood, attitude and feel of the film.”

It took Jesse two-three days of rehearsals to learn the dance steps for the song which is choreographed by Ashley Lobo.

‘No Smoking’ tells the story of a chain smoker who joins a rehab to quit the habit after his marriage comes to the point of collapse. Ayesha Takia is paired with John in the film.

Real models glam up 'Fashion'

While making a movie on the fashion world, it makes sense to rope in actual models from the fashion industry itself.

Madhur Bhandarkar , who likes to keep utmost authenticity in his slice-of-life films, actually signed as many as 46 real models (both female and male) to be part of his movie Fashion . However, none of these models was given substantial roles. Their parts were mainly walk-in roles.

Among the real models in the film are: Jesse Randhawa , Aanchal Kumar, Nayonika Chatterjee, Mridula Sharma, Bhavna Sharma, Diandra Soares, Binal Trivedi, Sucheta Sharma, Alicia Raut and Joey Mathews.

These models were basically part of the sequences showing fashion shows and back-stage preparations in the film.

Madhur shot the scenes in such a way that the models never got to feel as if they were shooting for a movie. He made them feel as if they were participating in a fashion show.

Model Nayonika Chatterjee tells a tabloid that she was apprehensive before shooting for the film because she had heard tales of long delays in shooting. But she admits she was impressed by the level of professionalism on the sets of Bhandarkar’s film.

The movie also stars model-turned-actress Mugdha Godse in an important role. However, the main roles are reserved for actors like Priyanka Chopra (who is a former Miss World) and Kangana Ranaut .

‘Fashion’ is set to premiere in Dubai. The movie hits the theatres on October 29.
