Last Saturday, Europe's longest shopping highstreet - Oxford Street - was closed from the traffic to give way for the Shop West End VIP Day event. Making its debut last year, the VIP Day let pedestrians roam through the street freely while enjoying their Christmas shopping. It was reported that more than 1.5 million people, not just Britons, but from all over the world having some fun with loads of events and of course, offers from most of the highstreet stores. Stores have reported a massive profit during that day to whopping more than £400 million.
Lots of discounts were seen at the window displays. The sleek Banana Republic did '20% Off Everything', same as Reiss, BhS, Dorothy Perkins and Burton. Ted Baker also did 20-30% off, while Debanhams still repeat their 25% Off everything in store (and online as well). Some offers '3 for 2' to lure customers.
On the road, loads of street performers took chance to entertain shoppers such as mime, those in costumes and street bands. With no buses, cars nor motorbikes can enter, the flock of people were really having a cracking shop-a-lotta of the year.
My prized possession? Got the chance to snap the Banana Republic tote bag. The BR Monogram men tote looks cool and practical, with the nylon twill fabric, leather trimmings and brass buckles. As the 20% being slashed off the original price what not to snatch the bargain from the US' import and add to my evergrowing collezioni.
Shop West End VIP Day. Truly I am one in a million (that roam the street, that is)!!
