Sony is known for its cutting edge design. Their products are the epitome of style, luxury and edgy. They maintain their repo in the miniaturization, be it in camera, laptop, LCD TV and mp3 player. Previous effort in camera design, Sony has introduced the thin DSC T1 - their first uberclassy ultracompact camera. During the days, they pioneer the 5MP, 3x optical zoom and better yet, the larger 2.5" LCD screen cramped in a size of a deck of cards. (I'm one of the first DSC T1 proud owner, even right before Sony launched it in Malaysia).
Now, continuing the effort Sony has done it again. The new DSC T700 and DSC T77 maintain the ultracompact genre. The resolution is upped to 10.1 MP with a LCD being blown up to a massive 3.5 inch, which double both as viewangle and touch screen interface. The touchscreen of T700 feel seamless with 'tougher' screen, while T77 is a bit 'liquidy' feel - think Minority Report-esque. Both are quite responsive. The optical zoom goes up a notch to 4x (lower than DSC T500 with 5x optical zoom) and 8x digital zoom, good enough to capture even the nostril of anyone from afar! The color composition is remarkable, contrast is great, even the macro shot looks amazing.
My pick would definitely be DSC T700. The clean, streamline look of the 'oh-so-thin' slide up cover seem immaculate. It solid feel is easy to handle yet light. Plus, with a massive 4GB internal storage, photo album capability and HD ready, this camera is perfect for any stylonista. It also can be attached to a tripod for handsfree snapshot (unlike DSC T1 and T7 that don't have any). With a size small enough to slip into the pocket and manbag, this camera is worth to be considered by the casual snappers.
