zaBigFatNews: Jimmy Choo - Shoemaker Turned Tourism Ambassador?

I spent part of my teenage years in a town where Zang Toi was brought up when he was a kid (hmm...does the water there makes us creative? LOL). And when he flew to the States, he made a big name in the who's-who world of fashion. His take on traditional pattern like sarong pelikat - the traditional tartan-like pattern - an turn it into an evening dress was just superb. And another fellow countrymen is the GINORMOUS name in fashion - footwear to be exact- that never miss a feature in the Sex and The City flick is Jimmy Choo.

And what a news I've just read. Jimmy Choo - now bearing the title 'Datuk' which is equivalent to Sir or Duke in Britain - has been named as the advisor and ambassador to the Malaysian Tourism Ministry. Congratulations and kudos to him. Great name, great exposure, and definitely worth it.

Hope that Datuk will promote the country as a global phenomenon too, just like the shoo. And btw, he just created a pair of blue high heels made out of songket material for a recent event called “A tribute to Terengganu Songket" held in Malaysia.

(Sarong, pelikat, songket - you guys definitely have no idea what those words mean, huh? There's always Wiki!)

P/S: I'm still waiting for Jimmy Choo for H&M collection debut in November. SOL! (Scream out loud!)
