Vogue's Fashion's Night Out 2010: London Sizzles!

The second part of London's VFNO2010.

Right after my unlucky tryout at Marc by Marc Jacobs at Mount Street, I head back to Oxford Street to see what other stores have got to offer (by which you can read it in the previous blog post). While on my journey there, I walk passed Christian Louboutin just nearby and saw there's some kind of Madhatters party inside with the 'put-your-head-in-here' kinda cutout board at the entrance for people to pose. And opposite is Carolina Herrera, by which the reception seem to look a bit bland probably because the store is quite far away from other hooplas that's happening at the other West End.

On my journey, I suddenly spotted the rainbow while heading back to Bruton St. Everybody that head east stopped to took photo, kinda amazed with the beauty of nature that evening. It's like giving some hope for people that VFNO would indeed gonna be okay!

Bla bla bla... some of the happenings..

  • Juicy Couture store with pink balloons on the window and having a party inside. If I'm not mistaken, I've just missed Pixie Lott when she poses with the Juicy Boys on the green carpet. Still, there're papz outside to capture celebs if some will appear out of nowhere.

  • Matthew Williamson is having sort of Marrakech theme, with live band playing inside.
  • Next door is Stella McCartney store having a sorbet stall set up by Rica. Lots of people stopped to grab the freebies, though the caterer is yet to complete all the 'finishings' of the lovely sorbets to be handed out. Inside there seems some party going on with exhibition by Gwyneth Paltrow, a good friend of Stella, showcasing some work about children. And oh, Natalia Vodianova (that also graces the ad campaign on the window display) also attended that night with her very hi-fashion (but quirkyly interesting) frock.

  • Then there was Burberry that hosted the VFNO 2009 last year. By the time I reached there, the party hasn't started since not many people queuing outside. Not even red carpet yet. And that's when I decided to head back to Oxford Street for all that extravaganza.

  • And before that, there's the Moschino store with giant shopping bags on display. Earlier, models poses by the window display with paps snapping the pixs.

  • At Liberty, long and very long queue coz people wanna meet Manolo Blahnik, who opened a pop-up store and collaborate with Liberty for some limited-edition pieces. (The scene reminds me of Jimmy Choo for H&M..ahaks!)

  • Right after the events at highstreet, I decided to head back to New Bond Street to check out again what happen there. Then I stopped by at Bally to see those shoes that they collaborate with selected students at Central St. Martins. Bally is also giving out 10% off purchases with free VFNO2010 bag that night.

  • At Emporio Armani is where the BIG party happens. Last year it was Burberry who did the honor hosting VFNO London. This time it's Armani, with the designer himself Mr Giorgio Armani together with British Vogue's editor, Alexandra Shulman hosting the bash attended by the models and celebs like David Gandy, Claudia Schiffer, Thandie Newton, etc... etc. Paparazzi camped outside, flashbulbs can't keep on stopping and camera is continuously flicking coz some well-known faces keep on hitting the red carpet.

One celeb which I don't know who she was...too dark!

  • D&G nearby doesn't seem to have a lavished party. Probably it's haltered since some moped-driven thieves has just rampaged the store and smashed the door open earlier that week.

  • But at Miu Miu, people seem to jam-packed inside, coz the store is a bit 'narrow'.

  • Limo keep on lining up down the New Bond Street...

  • At Burberry, lots of people attending unlike what I saw earlier. The band One Night Only with the frontman models for Burberry, was playing a live gig.

  • At Micheal Kors, some mannequins wore the VFNO London t-shirt, which is also worn by lots of Vogue editors that night as I walked pass them on the street.

  • I was about to enter the Maison, but my intention was hampered after seeing the queue. No way I'm lining up with all the masses in that kind of time just to get in Louis Vuitton. Anyway, there's no 'live' model on the window display unlike last year.

  • Prada also having a party inside. Not many people though, coz I think they prefer to go to Miuccia Prada's other store - Miu Miu.. ;)

  • Gucci is also hosting a party. This year it's the New Bond Street store that took over to become host after Sloane Street store having its time last year. I think people who went in really wanna grab those Gucci ganache..

  • There's 'live' models at Daks. Kinda cool, though I'm quite surprised coz at first I thought they were mannequins... until they 'move'.

  • Another 'live' models - at Tommy Hilfiger. Kinda cool in the Americana preppy theme..

My Vogue's Fashion's Night Out London 2010 ended up at Regent Street in the glorious facade as ever (though not many people there already at that time). All i can say, this year London truly has made it again. Many stores taking part with lots of activities, many bargains has been given to the shopanistas for the one-night-only event (no, not the band okay..haha)... and with many shoppers also having the time of their life - the VFNO 2010 made London sizzles again!

And with that... just wait for VFNO 2011.. we'll see whether it can live up to this year's event!
