My Weekend Shopping Trip: Adam for Mango and etc...

Weekend activity as usual - the trip to highstreet stores to seek some new collections. This time it's Adam Lippes for HE at Mango. I wrote in my previous blog that the collections are gonna hit the stores this coming 15th March, but hey.. they're already in yesterday. So what did I do? Gone for a test-drive of course, and see whether they're live up to the expectations.

So what's available? Upon my visit to Mango store in Oxford St yesterday, it's a mixed bags really. Overall, great menswear staples - shirts, cardi, jacket, pants and tees. Great fit, good cuttings and the fabrics are nice. Let see my verdict on some of them.

This sweater is to die for. The first time I saw the catalog it look smashing on the model himself. It's merino wool. Very light (extremely light really) and quite lux. The twist - the over-plunging neckline and hood making it look uber cool. Fit - superb. Price, not superb. But recommended! LOL.

The fabric of this shirt is quite good. I think it's Egyption cotton. The button are concealed beneath the front. The fit is slim. Nice cut too.The twist? The hem is given revealing stitches, reminisce Comme Des Garcons. Quite couture if you may. Price..hmm. Not quite sure whether lots of people would buy it anyway. And oh, the mid-length overcoat is great. Hard to find something so simple yet practical. While others go for traditional English mac, Adam Lippes went for simplicity. I like it, but it's too damn expensive.

The Prince of Wales check designs appears in key pieces like this jacket, and matching pants and shorts. Very Commes des Garcons. But, me.. not very liking the PoW checks anyway. So I'll pass. However the cutting is great.

The David range in stone - jacket, pants and shorts. Good fabric - high quality cotton. But it's wrinkletastic! Having said that, however the cut and fit are great. (Except for the short - coz I don't wear above-knee shorts.. LOL!)

The leather bomber jacket. Hmm.. don't really understand the design. A bit quirky with the flapped front. Wish it's more plain without any tackiness. The stretchable cuff is not that nice looking too. And, too overprice. So, I'll pass..

There're other pieces like striped tees, shiny grey polos, and classic V neck white and black Ts. But most of them cost a bit too much - at higher end of highstreet prices. Yet, considering Adam Lippes collection is limited edition (available only in selected Mango), some piece might be worth buying.

What do I get from the collection? The block black and white cardi. Nice fabric, very chic, limited edition and looks hot. Worth every penny...
