Etc... Etc... Esprit Like-for-like Sales Fall in the UK

"Young fashion chain Esprit saw UK like-for-like sales across its retail and wholesale divisions fall during the six months to December 31. "(Retail Week)

Esprit, esprit. Has it lost it's own 'esprit'? Alas, I got a chance to take a snipe on the fast fashion house that I've been wanting to do for a long time. Something doesn't really click on my shopaholic mind that this chain is still holding on in the UK market. Or London, to be exact. And when the news broke that their retail now started to dip as well, holla! Isn't that something that I have been seeing since forever?

My naughty verdicts again. 3 reasons why: Price. Price. and Price.

IMHO, the cost of clothes at Esprit is not competitive. Dear Esprit. You are a "typical class" highstreet store. If your price ever go beyond Topman or H&M, consider yourself the biggest loser at Oxford Street and Regent Street. Don't bother to open at other branches. No wonder your store is practically empty even during weekend.

And another reason. Your collections seems to be totally sucks. Not all, but most of them. I do like the scarves, especially summer scarves - but the tees, the pants, the jackets... oh, come on. You think lots of people wanna wear all those stupid logo and printed tees? Isn't that very tacky, very ungrown-up. Unless you still live with your mum. Nggg...

And to be brutally honest, most pieces looks good only on the pix, not in real life. Thank God they're using great looking model, coz at least that's what we're looking at. My word: Go to the store, get a real feel of the fabric, try it on in the fitting room - and later, judge it yourself. As for me, I'll put back on the hangers coz they are not to my expectations. Except if you don't give a damn about the word 'stylish', then take it to the till to pay. (Ouch!!)

So, my one word to Esprit. Price, down. (Oh, that's two words).
