Did Paris Fashion Week kick off with a bang just like Milan? I don't think so. Across the board I can say most of the clothes are really quite understated. Not as much excitement as what I saw in Milan for its burst of colors and trendier fashion flair. Except for Givenchy for letting the 'dogs' out and for the blackout prior the show, and Commes des Garcons with the Asian influence; other designers mostly stick to the season's sombre color palette. So far I really think Milan is leading when it comes to offering great selection of menswear for Fall/Winter 2011.
While other designers went for quite understatement pieces, one fashion house that I'm always excited to see the collection is Alexis Mabille. It never fail to give something very creative and new to the viewing audience every season. For the recent show FW11, I love their innovative take on the trousers collection: corset. Yes, corset, with the laces on the slightly offset of the front section. They're amazing, not just of the presence of the strings which you can adjust the 'fit-ness' of the pants, but also the color and texture of the material used. Gorgeous.
Another piece that is quite quirky but fun is the transparent tee by which it shows the torso of the wearer while the arm is 'covered'. Not sure they suit for fall/winter, coz you'll definitely be frozen to death wearing those tee alone out in the cold - but for spring/summer they looks quite cool. One thing for sure, you need a well-toned body to wear these creative tees though! ;)
