Paris Couture Day Dresses and Suits - 1958

You may have noticed I've been posting pretty things from 1958 this week.  I thought I'd just continue that by taking a look at Paris couture suits and daytime dresses from the same year.  Which is your favorite?

Pierre Cardin camel suit with brown Astrakhan fur collar.

Pierre Balmain blue wool suit with matching Persian lamb lined stole.

Lanvin-Castillo rose wool day dress with knotted sash.

Guy Laroche wool day dress with fringed sashes.

Madeleine de Rauch wool boucle suit.

Inspiration From Guy Laroche - 1960

For Fall, 1960, Guy Laroche showed this trĂ©s elegant suit in orange and gray wool.  The dress is made to look like two pieces.  The jacket is reversible from orange with gray binding to solid gray.  The dress is fitted to the body while the jacket is the boxier shape that was so popular at the time.  Note the use of a brown leather hat and brown suede gloves to complete the look.

How does this inspire you?

Vintage Couture Dresses - 1971

1971 was a schizophrenic year in fashion.  From minis to maxis and kooky to sophisticated, it seemed every designer had their own idea of what women should be wearing.  Here, looks from the haute couture for Spring 1971.  Would you wear any of these today?  Which one is your favorite?

Guy Laroche orange silk evening gown with kimono sleeves and tassels.

Philippe Venet zebra print jumpsuit.

Pierre Cardin leather zodiac dresses.  There was one for every sign.  Shown here are Cancer and Aries.

Lanvin midi dress in a wild print.

Givency sequined top and sheer maxi skirt over hot pants.

Weekend Eye Candy - Guy Laroche, 1964

I showed this gown a while ago on the Couture Allure Facebook page, but I wanted to share it again. This is one of my all time favorite vintage dresses and I would faint if I ever found it. White lace is covered in mink puff balls. Guy Laroche, 1964.
