A Green Pop-Up at Carnaby

Wahey! All fashion lovers should be rejoicing coz finally the Pretty Green label has opened its pop-up store at Carnaby Street last Friday. The label which is a brainchild of the Oasis' frontman, Liam Gallagher will be opened for three months starting from August till October by bringing you the kinda clothes that's worn by the singer himself. I didn't attend the opening of the store last Friday though, but I heard there's a massive queue outside the store by not only Oasis fans, but also the fashion lovers in general, to get their hands on some of the items in store.

So, last Saturday i went to check out what they got to offer. And be one of the first few to get in store, touch the clothes and feel 'em right on by bare hands. No queue. Well, probably because it's still early in the morning - practically nobody's there yet before main rampage could happened later that noon.

My verdict? To be honest, when I heard that Liam's gonna release his own clothing line last year, I was very sceptical on how it's gonna be. Is it gonna be a flop, a one-off thing like what other celebs used to do? Is the clothes gonna be cool and wearable especially for 'above average' bloke? Is the material and fit gonna be good? Coz you know... mentioning Liam Gallagher, what's really pop up to my mind is a guy who's having a beer can on one hand while donning those oversized parka! (no offense)

But, hellooo... I think I have to throw away all those prejudice about the brand. Pretty Green - which consists of the 'Green Label' and 'Black Label' - is not your typical celebs' clothing line. It's not even highstreet level. A level up there above them all. A bit kinda high fashion for the masses. Touching the clothes, feeling the luscious fabrics... I seem to understand why the price is what it is.

Take the t-shirts for example. I just can't believe that the material is supersoft. As if they're cashmere mix, yet it's luxe Egyptian cotton. They're light and very cooling too. The camouflage parka, which I wrote in this blog before - awesome! I actually was hoping it to be like Jamie Oliver used to wear, or the one that i normally found at H&M - but dang! The fabric is amazing! No wonder it's mega-expensive. The one that I love most are the paisley range - from the green paisley shirt to the grey version, the green scarves and the magenta - they're splendid pieces. They don't really screams what you see 'Liam' himself. I think those who're in the capital should go and have a feel of the clothes, then you'll appreciate it more.

When I talked with one of the SA, he mentioned that Pretty Green is actually looking to set up a permanent store themselves. And this pop-up store is somehow to test the market acceptance. Should crowd really love it to be a permanent store, instead of online like it is currently, then in the near future a real Pretty Green will have their own 'living' store just like other British brands had. If you ask me, where is the suitable location if the brand gonna set up a permanent one? It's either at Carnaby Street itself - coz it's the birthplace of British fashion; or at Covent Garden - for the 'feel' of quintessential British fashion scene. =)

But in the mean time, visit the pop-up shop at Carnaby St (just beside Puma Store). And have the feel what how pretty the Green really is!

And talking about going green, are Londoners ready to get a hold of those Cycle Hire across the capital? :)
