Leopard: Wear It Now...Wear It Later

Apparently, 2010 is supposed to be the Year of the Tiger according to the Chinese zodiac. But in Planet Fashion, tiger doesn't make a cut into becoming a cult - instead its sibling, leopard, is the one that made a huge trend. From Gucci who inject leopard print into some pieces like the jacket, sneakers and the briefcase for Fall/Winter 2010/11 to Christian Louboutin who came up with his famous leopard print hi-top sneakers, the big cat is indeed a favorite fad. And that is not include what I saw in the womens' department since almost in all September issue magazines, leopard prints are seen everywhere from the stillettos and clogs, to the satchel like Mulberry Alexa, and the coats and dresses. Leopard print is huge!

Mentioning the print, apart from Gucci and Louboutin the other designer brand that did leopard in all its glory is Kenzo. They showcased quite an array of the print: either on the body of the jacket, or just on the sleeves; as a footwear as well as accessories like gloves and bags. I love the color which is more toward the snow leopard which is kinda cool to suit the mood of winter (winter, snow... get it?).

Yet the trend doesn't stop there. Continuing for next Spring/Summer 2011 - it is Trussardi who brought the element of the big cat into their collection. Hot season demand them to bring the typical leopard colors which is synonymous with the tribal or 'Africa' theme. Like Kenzo, the print are seen on the jacket and accessories like belt, shoes and bags. To add some edge, some pieces are given new keopard colors - in grey and olive green - which looks kinda camo, by which also become a huge trend next season.

So. Talking about leopard, if you already had your own leopard prints in your wardrobe, keep it. Just like the snakeskin which is always seen regardless of season, leopard print too is here to stay. Wear it now... and wear it later!
