Retune to Tunic

Whether it's a fashion recycle or fashion reuse, I'm not so sure which one's which. But one definite thing is that, tunic has returned into the catwalk scene again at Jean Paul Gaultier for Spring/Summer 2011 - seeing a vast array of tunic/kaftans/long robe which you usually stumbled upon at the street of Marrakech or Cairo. Last season, Versace did sent off their models wearing kaftans in what I call a very gorgeous dip-dye features. Very flowy, very lightweight with a touch of tribal look in them.

For next Sping/Summer, JPG has done the tunics in none other than monochrome, to inject a sense of Parisian chic into the collection. Still, there's a hint of pattern on the fabric, a touch of sheer and a very gorgeous silhouette wrapped on the heavenly bodies of the models strutting on the catwalk. Some even flowy as well. I love how the tunic stay true to the Arabian feel yet given a dash of edge to bring it into the high fashion look.

Which one is my favorite? #1 for a hint of check pattern in classic graphite. #3 for a yukata feel with belt wrapped around the waist. #5 for a bit of Arabian-meet-Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon with a high slit at both sides of the long robe (and a cheer for sheer!).

And of course #7 coz it's the one that I actually wear all the time - black tunic with embroidery on the placket. Just like mine (see two last pixs - from my previous post). Simple and easy to pair it with a blazer too.

So, isn't it time to retune to tunic?
