After so long it's been there in my iPod, I can finally say that I've tried the Zara app. I've been wanting to snap some photos of what it got to offer, but in the previous FW09 collection where the app first came through it's not that exciting. Probably there's not so much to be talked about since it's just being developed back then. But now I think the app is pretty good, despite of some drawbacks (which I'll mention that later).
So, what's hot about the app?
First, if you love Zara then it's a good start. This time the app is getting better coz there are more pictures to be viewed. From the collection for men, women, kids and 'the young' (by which it means the 'TRF' collection in store), then you can select whichever you wish to view. In the men's department, for example, apparently it's like what you saw in the website. From the current ad campaign to the collection that their having and the 'what's new'. Oh, talking about ad campaign for SS10, this time it features Sean O'Pry in absolutely beautiful shots. Looking at it suddenly remind me of Beyonce's song Irreplaceable with the lyrics "to the left, to the left" - coz apprently Sean O is looking "to the left" in most of the photos! Ahaks... no offence. =)
Anyway. Click on the collection then you'll see the whole nine yards of what you're expecting in SS10 collection. One great thing about the app is that it features some pieces which is not even featured in Zara website. Great isn't it? Like the denim shoe with the leather toe-cap that I've seen in store (but already gone by today, yikes!!) and the animal print hi-top sneakers. And you can flip through all the pix just like you're flipping photos in iPod Photo Gallery. Simple.
So, what's bad about this app? First, you absolutely need a wifi connection (duh!). And it loads pretty slow due to the amount of pictures in it. Yes, a lot of pictures! And about the collection, you can only view the pieces. That's it. You can't click to save in your iPod/iPhone or send it through email. There's no info about the material used and no price reference unlike in the website (make sense too coz it's for worldwide access!). I think to add value to this app, if it can do all of those then it'll be a major success. At least that's what All Saints app can do. Buy it online? Don't even think about it. The answer is no!
Btw, for Zara fans it may be a nice addition to your iPhone or 'Touch coz it's free. And with frequent updating, you gotta chance to see what's coming to store in weeks to come!
How much would I rate this app? 6/10. Cruel? Yes, coz I can't save the pix, silly. =)
