Cropped pants is gonna be big next season. I really like cropped pants (or sometimes called 3/4 trousers) because it's not too flashy like normal shorts (worst if you have bad knees), nor it's too long that you may sweep the floor when you walk. It's just in between - a marriage between the two.
To me a nice cropped trouser would have a length that lies between below the knee and mid-calf. And the end is not flared nor too loose, as if you may fill another leg inside. It should be slim fit, and skim the contour of the legs. (Talking about flatter the lower body!). Some may have flare end but with a drawstrings, it can be fitted nicely and so-called close the loose end.
Who did the best cropped trousers? Calvin Klein and Armani, which are showcased in the previous SS '09 collection. Other designers that also did nice designs include Commes des Garcons, Evisu, Paul Smith and Bikkembergs (which are available @ Yoox).
To make it edgy, pair it with a pair of hi-top trainers or boots. With plimsols, it'll look urbane. And pairing it with nice sandals, you are definitely ready for summer! Whatever it is, start sculpting that calves from now. Voila...
