The flap-top duffel bag has now become a new standard in men's accessories. Burberry did their famous totes in Spring/Summer 2009 with canvas checks and tumbled leather. Tumi also have their own style last year called Townhouse, which is also seen quite similar to Pauric Sweeney and Bally. This autumn 2010 suprisingly Gucci also came up with their rendition of flap-top carryall with their signature webbing.
And latest to add to the similar design is this bag by Ralph Lauren under the 'Purple Label' collection. Codenamed 'Cooper', this duffel bag looks gorgeous in tan calfskin leather (or Ralph Lauren called it 'RL Gold') which seem to feel soft as butter. I love the diagonal buckle straps that extends across the bag which made them feel quite contemporary and modern. Inside it is lined with cotton twill, having quite roomy compartment with additional pockets on both sides. The flaps can be locked too making it quite secure should you wanna leave it in your Orient Express cabin.
But for daily use when you have to hit the city in the unforgiving downpour at times, this tote in nylon with leather trims might do the job well to carry that extra clothes. You know, just in case you need to change. It has a snap closure with adjustable buckle to prevent it from being too 'open'. With the removable shoulder strap, you have a choice either to handcarry or sling it on your shoulder too. And the nylon twill - that's surely gonna be waterproof.
Btw, this one really remind me of what Banana Republic used to do a couple of years back. Hmmm... another 'inspired' edition, again?
