When going shopping, it's not just about the clothes and accessories in the stores that made me excited; it's the staircases too coz it sets the whole ambience of the store. While there's not so much I can say about escalators, the traditional stairs are really the one that can become the signature or iconic for an invididual shop. The way they decorated it can really set it apart and become the talking points of the shoppers - and who knows, would made them wanna come back!
My recent encounter with gorgeous staircases at some stores in London West End.
The Jack Wills store in Long Acre, Covent Garden
I love the murals with lots and lots of picture frames!
The newly refurbished Benetton store at Oxford Circus
I really really love the entire new decor at Benetton. I could've live there!
The new flagship Kurt Geiger store at the Piazza, Covent Garden
The most striking feature is actually the shoe tower.
But the staircase that leads to the basement is equally superb,
with mannequins donning the shoes in various poses!
Some idea for my shoe closet.. snap the pix of the shoe and stick it to the box.
Easy to reckon what's in which. Brilliant!
For those who's on shopping adventure in London, you should also go to Anthropologie at Regent Street for the splendid living plants murals by the staircases that spans up to two-floors. And also the Apple Store at Covent Garden with their ultramodernist glass stairs!
One thing that I yet to challenge any store designers and so far never seen it anywhere in London is: why can't there be a glass spiral elevator? ;)
